On Thursday 5th July, the hard work of the Marsden Engineers came to fruition when they took part in the Greenpower Goblin IET kit car race on Newcastle Quayside.
The team had worked for over fifteen weeks constructing the chassis, designing and then creating cardboard templates for the final bodywork construction.
Test-driving the car was particularly exciting for the team, as was taking part with 40 other primary schools from around the region.
The Greenpower Educational Trust which initiated the programme also provided the school with an Ambassador- local engineer Mike Lambert, who guided the children and their teacher in making the car.
The whole programme, costing in the region of £2,000, has been sponsored by the Reece Foundation, the Rotary Club of Sunderland and Marsden School.
The children had a fantastic day! There are some budding Jenson Buttons and Lewis Hamilton’s  in this group!Grateful thanks to Mr Payne, Mrs Danjoux and to parents and grandparents who supported the team fabulously. Go Marsden!

I saw the car while I visited Reception and it looked fabulous! I was hoping that I might get a turn on the track. I was so impressed with what I saw.
